Easily one of the biggest things to happen during Star Wars Celebration Orlando was the Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel, which included the cast and crew discussing the new story, characters and locations, along with a first look at the epic teaser trailer!

Afterwards, many of panelists went backstage to speak to the press about the film, among other topics. MTV's Josh Horowitz caught up with a few of them and got some interesting scoops. His interview with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy was especially intriguing and shed some light on various aspects of the franchise's future.

First off, Horowitz inquired about the importance of Rey's parentage and fan speculation surrounding it:

"I think it is integral, I think it is important... Interestingly enough, even when we were coming up with episode seven The Force Awakens, it was one of the central questions we were all asking ourselves. So it's not surprising that the audience is going to continue to ask that, and we have to answer it at some point."

Secondly, he went on to allude to some recent comments about the upcoming Han Solo film made by Disney CEO Bob Iger who reportedly said that Han will "get his name" in the movie. After much fan speculation about the possibility of "Han Solo" not being the Smuggler's real name, Kennedy clarified the situation:

"I'm not sure that's entirely what Bob meant. There's more to Han Solo's name, but it's not that it's not his name. It's obviously his name. It will always be his name."

And lastly, Horowitz asked about when we might can expect announcements concerning future standalone films. Kennedy seems to point to this Summer as a possibility:

"I think we're getting close. My hope would be sometime around the summer. I never want to predict the creative process... We're in the midst of those discussions right now."

Furthermore, Horowitz discussed The Last Jedi's opening crawl with director Rian Johnson, and also talked with Daisy Ridley about her and her character's relationship with Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker. You can watch both of those interviews below:
