By Ciaran Duggan,

Disney CEO Bob Iger publicly announced the digital and Blu Ray release dates for Star Wars: The Force Awakens on this day in 2016.

He stated the film would be released digitally on April 1st, and then on Blu-ray and DVD on April 5th.

Accompanied with the announcement was a short 'in-home' trailer, along with a complete list of the bonus features on the Blu-Ray set.

Some of the behind-the-scenes featurettes included Secrets of the Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey and John Williams: The Seventh Symphony.

Just last week a similar announcement was put out for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was also accompanied with a trailer.

One can imagine this will become a new Star Wars tradition with Star Wars: The Last Jedi also slated for a December release.
