With the Han Solo A Star Wars Story film about to enter production early next year, details about the film are slowly being revealed. Today Variety published a feature on the Star Wars spin off films, to coincide with the upcoming release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and it featured a few little tidbits about the upcoming Phil Lord and Chris Miller directed Han Solo film. Lucasfilm president and Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy spoke about fans can expect from the film, saying,
“This moves closer to a heist or Western type feel. We’ve talked about [Frederic] Remington and those primary colors that
are used in his paintings defining the look and feel of the film.”
She also spoke about hiring a female director for a future Star Wars film,
“We want to make sure that when we bring a female director in to do Star Wars, they’re set up for success. They’re
gigantic films, and you can’t come into them with essentially no
experience.”
The Han Solo film hits theaters in 2018 and stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke in an unknown role. The film is directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller with a script by Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon.
