Last night John Williams told the crowd, at the Tanglewood Music Center, that his work on Episode VIII  will begin in the next few weeks. Williams conducted a 30-minute concert of his most notable Star Wars scores, but the big reveal was the fact that he will begin work on the next movie in the Star Wars saga in the near future.   He also revealed that director Rian Johnson would be showing him a rough cut of the film in a few weeks.

Williams also disclosed to the audience that the fundamental reason he consented to the invitation to score Episode VIII was because he was "enchanted by actress Daisy Ridley's portrayal of Rey and does not want another compose scoring her scenes". The Rey theme has already become a staple in Star Wars musical folklore.

Star Wars: Episode VIII completed filming last month as post production is underway in preparation for the release date on December 15, 2017.
