While the primary focus of our excitement is currently focused on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which hits theaters on December 16th, it's hard not to still look ahead to next year's Star Wars: Episode VIII. Apart from the cast and the the fact that the film will begin right where The Force Awakens ended, we still know very little about Episode VIII. One of the bigger mysteries surrounding the sequel is its title, which fans have been speculating and hoping would be revealed any time now. Now it appears that won't be the case.
Our friends at Furious Fanboys are reporting that Rey herself, Daisy Ridley, appeared on the My Dad Wrote a Porno Podcast and spoke briefly about Episode VIII's title:
“I heard a title, but I don’t know if it’s going to be that. I really don’t know much about anything. I heard the title a long time ago before we started filming, and so I feel some things have slightly tweaked during production. It’s going to be a while before it’s released I imagine.”
With Star Wars Celebration Europe and San Diego Comic Con now behind us, I don't see any big opportunities in the near future for a title announcement. It seems Lucasfilm may be wanting to keep the focus on Rogue One until it's released. The next most likely time for a title reveal will be at Star Wars Celebration Orlando(April 13th - 16th, 2017). Rian Johnson has confirmed he will be there to unveil the film, and will surely be joined by other crew and cast members. It's going to be an exciting time nonetheless! Star Wars: Episode VIII opens in theaters on December 15th, 2017.
While we're waiting, leave your best Episode VIII title guesses in the comments below!
