More 'Episode VIII' Set Photos From Ceann Sibéal In Ireland

Production on Star Wars: Episode VIII is more than half-way done now, and much of the filming this time around we'll be taking place in Ireland. The Island of Skellig Michael off the coast of Ireland portrayed the water world of Ahch-To, where Rey finds Luke Skywalker in the final scenes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Filming on the island proved to be challenging due to environmental concerns, thus production will continue in other locations,

Last week we got a glimpse at a set at Pinewood Studios in London that is obviously meant to mimic the Irish island's iconic look. And prior to that we heard and saw that production crews had moved to Ceann Sibéal on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry, Ireland. More recently, Independent.ie released a gallery of aerial images which show a variety of stone beehive huts that have been built on elevated sets that are positioned on the cliffs of the peninsula. The huts match the look of the structures that are seen on Skellig Michael, which are the remnants of a 6th century Catholic Monastery. In the films, the huts are meant to portray the First Jedi Temple. You can check out a few of the photos below:

Independent.ie further reports that work began on this set about six weeks ago. Both Daisy Ridley(Rey) and Mark Hamill(Luke Skywalker) are expected visit the location for filming, alongside other actors. You can see even more photos and read their full report on the work being done there by clicking here!

Star Wars: Episode VIII opens in theaters on December 15th, 2017!
