We may have a front runner in the search for the actor who will pick up the mantle from Harrison Ford and portray Han Solo in the Young Han Anthology film ("Hanthology", if you will) in 2018. Deadline is reporting that following the latest round of screen tests Alden Ehrenreich "is now leading the pack after after an impressive performance". Ehrenreich is best known for his role as Hobie Doyle in the Coen Brother's film Hail, Caesar! Other actors rumored to have screen tested for the role include Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) and Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction).
The Young Han Solo film is slated for a May 25th, 2018 release date and will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (22 Jump Street, The Lego Movie). The film is written by Star Wars and Lucasfilm veteran Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Arc, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens) and his son Jon Kasdan.
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
