Benicio Del Toro Calls 'Episode VIII' "Scary & Exciting"

A few weeks ago we got an official casting announcement(and teaser video) for Star Wars: Episode VIII confirming the returning cast members and revealing new ones. But there was one actor we already knew was going to be in the movie, and that is of course Benicio Del Toro. The Oscar winner has not been shy about the fact that he's going to be in Episode VIII, and now that the Lothcat is officially out of the bag he's talking Star Wars even more. In a recent interview with the Toronto Sun to promote his latest film A Perfect Day, Del Toro spoke briefly about being cast in a Star Wars film, describing the experience as "scary". He then added:

“It’s scary because there’s a lot of talk that I’m going to be in that movie — before I’ve even shot one scene! But I’m excited, too.”

He also discussed his admiration for previous Star Wars films:

“I really enjoyed Episode VII. And I’ve enjoyed Star Wars, especially the first one — I think it’s called Episode IV now. And Return of the Jedi, and The Empire Strikes Back — I’m not a Star Wars buff like some out there, but as a kid I really liked those films, like, way before I ever thought I was going to be in movies. There’s something of a nostalgia thing that gets you excited about being part of the Star Wars world.”

We have no word yet on who Del Toro will be playing, but rumors and speculation have pointed to it being a more villainous role. Nevertheless, it's awesome to have him as part of the Star Wars family!

Star Wars: Episode VIII opens in theaters on December 15th, 2017 and stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and others, alongside newcomers Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
