New 'The Force Awakens' TV Spot, With New Footage, Airs on Cartoon Network

Thanks to MakingStarWars.net for the screen shot!
By: Dominic Jones

Another TV spot for Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens aired on Cartoon Network today, showing lots of new footage.  I will say that some of the shots in this TV spot are a bit more revealing than other stuff (it confirms something that was only implied in the other trailers).  That being said, it's still really cool and really doesn't give that much away about the movie.  Check it out below,

As you see in the trailer, we see the castle being destroyed.  Granted we had seen the rubble in other shots and most of assumed that was the same place. For the record, I don't think any lines have been crossed in terms of showing so much footage.  We've barely seen 6 minutes of the film, which is over two hours long.  And most of what we have seen in action, we still know very little about the story of the film.  While this trailer is more revealing than others, it shouldn't be seen as giving away any major spoilers.  The big moments of the film are still being kept under wraps.

All that being said, the coolest moments in the trailer have little to do with the castle coming down.  I loved seeing more shots of Rey and Finn in control of the Falcon, and the Kylo Ren shot was badass!

What did you think of the trailer?  Let us know in the comments.

  1. I agree. Many people are saying that "they're showing too much". As far as official footage goes in trailers, clips, etc, especially considered how much of it is reused, we've barely even seen five minutes of a two plus hour film. And many key characters are completely absent or presented in silence. We don't know anything.

  4. They hardly showed 'lots of new footage' here just another capture of kylo ren and a second clip of Finn and Rey not a lot to be honest.

  7. Really want to see a good quality version of this. Love the Kylo Ren diflecting laser blasts shot.
also - this isn't any "spoilers" for people complaining. Its the exact same scenes that we have seen in the past. All of the "new" footage is just different angles of events that we already know take place from the official trailer.

  8. Is that the Millenium Falcon being blown up on 10secs in as Finn & Rey are running towards something?

  9. No once forces people to watch this. So why complain about "no more new footage"!

  10. I am hoping they keep releasing the whole movie in 30 second chunks, someone splices the whole thing together, and I save $15!! Nah...but I want these to Keep On Coming!!!

  11. How about a copy that isn't a lousy TV screen grab video of a video of a video?

  12. Imagining what may happen is part of the SW experience; consider the extended universe. Besides Disney (and Fadango) already have my money.

  13. Something to keep in mind as far as footage seen so far: it doesn't necessarily mean you'll see it in the movie. Plenty of film trailers or commercials feature shots that don't end up in the final version of the film. The most recent example I can think of is Straight Outta Compton. There were quite a few shots seen in the trailers that weren't in the movie.

So in short, just because you see something in these trailers and promos doesn't mean we'll see it in the film. Time will tell.

  14. Why do the advertisements say it opens December 18 when it is December 17?
I have tickets for Dec 17 which is 12:01 am. So I actually will arrive at the theatre Dec 16.
