A third writer has reportedly been hired to take a pass at the script for the first film in the Star Wars: Anthology series, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Latino Review is reporting that Christopher McQuarrie (Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation) was hired by Lucasfilm to do a two week pass to polish up the Rogue One script. McQuarrie is the third writer to be hired to work on the Gareth Edwards directed feature, Gary Whitta wrote the first draft and Chris Weitz was brought in after that to work on the shooting script. Latino Review also adds that their sources didn't know at what point in the process did McQuarrie do his pass on the script. The film has been shooting since August, so it seems safe to assume he was brought in before then.
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theatres on December 16th, 2016 and stars Felicity Jones, Forest Whittaker, Madds Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, and Alan Tudyk, and is directed by Gareth Edwards. It tells the story of how the rebels stole the plans to the first Death Star.
