In addition to some of the most iconic characters in film history, Star Wars has always given us some beloved secondary and tertiary characters that populate the world, from Lobot to Dexter Jexter, to the denizens of the Mos Eisley Cantina. Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens (which opens in less than six months!) will surely continue that tradition. Today, our friends over at MakingStarWars.net revealed a first look at a new character from The Force Awakens. As usual, there is a chance this could be false, but if you are looking to avoid all The Force Awakens spoilers then stop reading now. This is your SPOILER ALERT!

Making Star Wars revealed our first look at the new character or Major Ematt today. Check out the artwork below:
"In Star Wars: The Force Awakens we’re going to be introduced to a new character named Major Ematt. Ematt has served with Leia since before the Battle of Yavin and still serves with her 40 years later."
They also speculate that actor Frank Sloane may be playing the character in the film. Sloane was spotting on set by sources wearing the same jacket that Ken Leung's character was wearing. The jacket appears to be the uniform of Resistance officers. MSW posted this great pic of the jacket itself.
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.
