Earlier this week we learned that a new novel, Star Wars: Aftermath, would be coming from Del Rey Books as part of the "Journey to The Force Awakens" publishing event. While the author was not included in the original announcement, Random House has updated their online database with a place holder cover for the book that reveals that Chuck Wendig will be writing the book. Wendig has previously written several novels and comics in the horror genre including the "Miriam Black" series. Star Wars: Aftermath is slated for a September 4th, 2015 release date and is set immediately after the events of Return of the Jedi. Check out the official synopsis below,
Journey to The Force Awakens.
The second Death Star is destroyed. The Emperor and his powerful enforcer, Darth Vader, are rumored to be dead. The Galactic Empire is in chaos.
Across the galaxy, some systems celebrate, while in others Imperial factions tighten their grip. Optimism and fear reign side by side.
And while the Rebel Alliance engages the fractured forces of the Empire, a lone Rebel scout uncovers a secret Imperial meeting. . . .

While I can't say I'm familiar with Chuck's work, I look forward to seeing what he can do with a Star Wars novel.
