Opinion: Where have you been, Ahsoka Tano?

We are now over three days in, having known officially the identity of the secretive mastermind in season one of Star Wars: Rebels-our beloved former Padawan from The Clone Wars-Ashoka Tano! Since the very first mention of Fulcrum, we, the fan community, have been abuzz, forming speculations, creating our own rumors, and overall stirring up a huge ruckus-all in the hopes that the former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker would make some kind of appearance, provide some sort of fanfare-to all of us who were not satisfied with her departure at the conclusion of season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (As if anyone was satisfied! We love our Snips!) After months of endless rumors, what was asked for-has finally been received! Throughout this article, we will examine some food for thought-of the current standing of our beloved Togruta Apprentice from The Clone Wars!

1. Where did she go after season 5?
At the conclusion of season 5 of TCW, Ashoka placed her lightsabers on the mantle, and walked away from the Jedi Order-after becoming dissatisfied with the Order, feeling betrayed and disgusted by the lack of trust they had placed in her. Where did she first go when she departed the Jedi? Where was she when Order 66 went down? We want to know where she’s been, in this big galaxy of dire need!

2. What is her status as a practitioner of the Force?
By leaving the Jedi, Ashoka left behind the most mainstream (and possibly efficient) opportunity at her disposal to continue to be educated and formally trained in the ways of the force. Unlike Kanan, she was not displaced by the execution of Order 66, but willfully walked away from the current path and administration of the Jedi Order, prior to the galaxy-transforming event. It can be clearly seen when she is climbing down the ladder, making her appearance in Rebels (pictured below), that she continues to carry two lightsabers. What has she been doing in relation to being a force practitioner? Does she identify as an rogue Jedi? Does she rarely use these sabers (as Kanan did, prior to the series premiere)? Or perhaps little snips, in her growing-has found other means to continue to study the ways of the force and has continually matured in her training, now being the equivalent of even a Jedi Master?

3. What is the scope of her involvement with The Rebellion?
At the beginning of the scene where Snips makes her comeback, we learn from a hologram transmission of Senator Bail Organa that there is a Rebellion, and that the crew of The Ghost are only one cell of said Rebellion-to the surprise of the crew itself, barring Hera, who was in conversation with Ahsoka via Fulcrum. Is she merely one body who has been supervising The Ghost from afar? Does she hold a much more administrative role? And how big is The Rebellion in this current form? And how did she get involved with The Rebellion?

4. Does she know that Anakin is Darth Vader?
This may seem silly at first thought, but the fact that Anakin Skywalker is the man behind the suit and mask of Darth Vader-is not common knowledge throughout the galaxy. Does Ahsoka realize that her former master is this monster that destroyed all those she knew and loved in her former life as a Jedi Padawan? Have they met-or even sensed each other, since her departure from the order? Will there be a major confrontation between the two in this series?

5.  And where will she go…?
As with the entire crew of The Ghost, it is clear that these are not characters that are featured in the Original Trilogy: Where will she go, Episode V being only a short five years away? Surely, they could just be off running a mission somewhere not covered by the trilogy, but that is of course-wishful thinking.

Whatever the future holds…wherever you have been…and wherever you will go-Welcome back, Ahsoka Tano!

see, this is what i was worried about with Rebels and the new canon. i am glad to see tano back (her character arc in clone wars was, well, the only actual character arc worth mentioning hehe but it was a really good, dynamic one) but i'm worried about the very question you just posed at the end of the article: And where will she go…?

bringing her back in a gimmicky fashion in a show that, let's face it, is ultimately dispensible (it's AITE) poses an issue for ever including her in the canon again without coming up with an equally gimmicky explanation as to why. and because tano was an excellent character to begin with, that's a hell of a waste (it isn't like she's as arbitrary as the crew of the ghost)

unless of course she dies in rebels. which also sucks :(

i think she won't die for a couple of reasons
1 she's basicly dave filloni's daughter in the way that he's been by ahsoka ever since the movie and that he helped create her

2 she is a fan favorite character and something tells me if she's killed a lot of fans would be unhappy and they would possibly lose viewers and money from it

3 she is more part of the cannon then she was earlier. because if she say died in the clone wars series early on people would have been ok with it because she was seen as akin to jar jar binks but now since she has grown on people and a lot of people like her it a lot less necisary

I just wish Asajj Ventress would come back in Rebels or maybe even in Force Awakens. Shes my favorite character in TCW and she became a bounty hunter.
Those who says she would be too old for Force Awakens, I don't really know if there is actual lifespan for Rattataki (or rattataki-human hybrid) mentioned anywhere.

Because Ahsoka was not part of Jedi Order, she was spared the initial effect of Order 66, but felt deaths of her former Jedi comrades, like Yoda did.

I believe that Ahsoka knows that Anikin is not dead, but doesn't know that Anikin and Vader are one in the same. Ahsoka may be looking for Anikin and hopes to convince he to join forces, as they did during the Clone Wars, making any reunion, tragic.

Will Vader strike down Ahosoka, as he will do to his former Master, or be mere witness to her death at the hands or another? And if so, is this the event that starts Anikin's wining path to redemption?

I think Ahsoka will fall at the hands of Vader. But not without knowing he is her former master. It will be heart breaking & dark moment, but she will fall saving everyone, inspiring the Rebels to greater heights, mentoring princess Leia. Ahsoka and Padme were great friends in TCW if anyone recalls. Whether she knows about the twins being the children of Anakin & Padme is unclear, but the will of the FORCE will guide her to play a huge role in Leia's life. She may have been 1 of the spies among the current cell that steals the plans to the Death Star, she then tells Leia all she needs to know about Obi-wan Kenobi. Leia doesn't know everything about obi-wan, but she knows she needs to solicit his help. Asuka may know about Luke or not but I believe she will be responsible for initiating A NEW Hope along with the current cell Of rebels. It's even possible that Ahsoka has been in contact with Yoda and obi-wan by means of force meditation. Yoda demonstrated the ability to reach across the galaxy to in Kanaan during Ezra's trial to become a Padawan learner. What if both Yoda and Obi-wan are able to force meditate appear in an auditory meditative state or vision by the power of the force with a Ahsoka, bringing her into part of the plan. Maybe while Ezra & the Ghost crew are fleeing to get the Death Star plans to Bale Organs Ahsoka has a face off with Darth Vader and in the process sacrifices herself for everyone. Kannan & Ezra fight off the Imperials getting the plans to Organ, but Vader kills Kannan & Bale & the Ghost crew. Ezra makes his escape with Leia & protects her, but Vader pursues. All these people die in order for these plans to get safey to the Rebel Alliance headquarters on Yavin. Ezra gives his life fighting Vader so Leia can get away toward Obiwan Kenobi which is where Ahsoka originally wanted them to go. The Imperial Navy with Darth Vader in the Star Destroyer above remote planet of Tatooine catch up with Leia who sends the famiky droids on their misdion of A NEW Hope. And this is where the fun begins.

Let me go WAY out on a limb here, but does anyone else think Adam Driver looks like Ezra Bridger approx 35+ years later? Could Ezra be the new villain in episode VII?
