A few months ago, rumors began flying around that an Obi-Wan Kenobi stand alone film was in the works. The rumors seemed to imply that Ewan McGregor would be reprising his role in the films. Combine that with fan speculation that McGregor could portray a Force ghost old Obi-Wan, with make-up and CGI to make him look like Sir Alec Guiness, and you've got quite the compelling case for more Ewan McGregor in Star Wars. Well this all seems to be news to Ewan. MTV's Josh Horowitz caught up with McGregor who is promoting new film Last Days in the Desert and asked him about returning to the role and if he'd heard anything.
McGregor said, "No! I’m still waiting for the call! Seriously!"

I would love to Ewan reprise his role as Obi-Wan, especially in a stand alone film. This is the perfect time to do it as well. It's been about 10 years since McGregor last played the part, so he's aged naturally enough that he could do a film about Obi-Wan set between Episodes III and IV (what he'd be doing is anyone's guess), but he also hasn't aged enough that he couldn't go back and do somethign between Episodes II and III. Hopefully Lucasfilm feels the same.
