In this last episode of Star Wars Rebels, "Out Of Darkness", we were introduced to a new, unseen character named "Fulcrum". Fulcrum is a trusted contact of Hera whom they rely on as a source of information, as well as supplies. In Out Of Darkness, Hera and Sabine journey to an abandoned Clone Wars era Republic Asteroid base to pick up some crates of supplies from Fulcrum, who speaks to them via comlink in a male sounding, modulated voice. The character does not appear in person in the episode, which leaves us wondering; who is Fulcrum?
On the most recent Star Wars Underworld Podcast, we speculated about who Fulcrum might be, suggesting everyone from Bail Organa to Darth Maul. This mystery character has also inspired more in-depth investigation from other fans, such as the good folks at Rebels Report. They took the audio of Fulcrum's voice and edited it, giving it a higher pitch. The result is the following sound clip, which features the original audio first, the same audio four semi-tones up second, and lastly, six semi-tones up. You can listen to it below. Also, read on for some speculation based on this audio. But be aware, possible SPOILERS follow!
Some have suggested that the voice sounds like a heavily edited female voice, rather than a male one. More specifically, many believe the voice sounds distinctly like Ashley Eckstein's, who, of course, voiced Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ahsoka would be a logical choice for Fulcrum, being that the last time we saw her she was leaving the Jedi Order. Her abandonment of the Order would have ultimately saved her life when Order 66 was initiated, leaving the door wide open for her to appear in Star Wars Rebels, which is set 15 years after Revenge Of The Sith.
So, what do you think? Is it Ahsoka? Or another, possibly brand new character? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below, or in Club SWU!

Well it's been rumored she would appear in rebels for months now so it only makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI really think, after listening to the sound cloud piece a few times, that Ahsoka may really be who Fulcrum really is.
ReplyDeleteListening to that audio, it HAS to be Ahsoka! Especially going from the second version. It just sounds like her so much!
ReplyDeleteI would squeal like a fan girl.
ReplyDeleteEven if it is Ahsoka which I dont think it is, we still have to see what happened to her during season 7 of the clone wars. We know that she was involved with Bo-Katan and the mandalorians and that they provided certain information to the republic and the jedi. It is mentioned in the Darth Maul son of Dathomir comic which wouldve been a season 7 arc. Its weird to just jump ahead Ahsokas story 15 years without knowing what happened to her on mandalore. They should finish TCW properly.
ReplyDeleteThe secret lies in the name Fulcrum. The force is out of balance after all.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean Justin
ReplyDeleteI guess 84% on this post say it is indeed Ahsoka is indeed who Fulcrum really is while just one post says no.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound similar to Ashley Ecksteins voice. I just think that its weird to jump to her as an adult before finding out what happened to her after season 5 of TCW. Theres some gaps that we need to see like the Ahsoka/ Bo-Katan arc from season 7 of TCW. I think Dave Filoni did mention that her story does go past order 66.
ReplyDeleteDave Filoni is asked about Ahsoka in the Rebels Recon: Out of Darkness "episode" on starwars.com. That's a sly hat tip my friends.
ReplyDeleteThe mark on the crate is the same as her facial markings, according to makingstarwars.com.

Where and at what time mark does Dave get asked about Ahsoka in the Rebels Recon for Out of Darkness, Brent? I didn't hear it all.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely a clone wars era vet. Just by the choice of location.most likely only a vet would know of a old clone wars base. Ashoka or rex would be awesome. Small chance it might be Mon Mothma even though she is not a clone wars vet
ReplyDeleteThe ship they send Tseebo off on looks like Bail Organas ship, the Tantive IV
ReplyDeleteAhsoka is but a wet dream from fanboys and girls... rumors are rumors and no known facts she will ever appear in rebels... It has to be an OT rebel legion character or a new character
ReplyDeleteApparently, Ahsoka will appear as Fulcrum. She'll be played by Olivia Luccioni
