Our friends over at MakingStarWars.net picked up on an interesting tidbit today. A.J. Edwards, the director of The Better Angels did a Reddit AMA and someone asked him if he would be directing a Star Wars film, and, surprisingly, he said yes! He went on to specify that he is working on a Mace Windu film. Mace Windu was played by Samuel L. Jackson in Episodes I-III.
Now, it should be pointed out that Edwards could very well have just been joking and we're all taking this way to seriously. But, we are also in an era where there are more Star Wars projects being worked on then ever before. Also, Edwards does seem to fit in with the trend of choosing younger, lesser known directors for the stand alone films (like Gareth Edwards and Josh Trank). As for a Mace Windu film, that could be cool. I expect this will start up the Mace is alive conspiracy theories again, but I would rather see a new Mace Windu film set during the Clone Wars.
What do you think? Would you be interested in seeing a Mace Windu film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below, or in Club SWU!
