Star Wars: A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller, the first novel is part of the "new" Star Wars canon and written under the guidance of the Lucasfilm story group, was released on Tuesday. If your still unsure about picking it up (or even if you already have), Entertainment Weekly has released a special audio excerpt read by Star Wars Rebels voice actor Vanessa Marshall, who plays Hera Syndulla on the show. A New Dawn covers the story of how Hera and her Rebels co-star Kanan Jarrus met.

I'm really glad to see the tradition of having special audio previews of novels read by the actors who have portrayed the main characters in other Star Wars stories is continuing. You may remember this began with the last few "Legends" novels last year (Kenobi, Razor's Edge, Maul: Lockdown, and Honor Among Thieves). Hopefully this continues with the upcoming novels Tarkin, Heir to the Jedi, Lords of the Sith, and beyond!
