Yes, you read that title right. Filming for Star Wars Episode VII is already underway, and casting is almost complete! Even though the last official word we heard was filming was scheduled to start in May, Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn spoke with the Hollywood Reporter and confirmed the latter, and let some other interesting details slip. "We're actually shooting some of it now," said Horn after been questioned by HR's Stephen Galloway about Episode VII's filming schedule. He also made it clear that casting is still ongoing, adding; "We have a lot of them, it's not completely done yet." He continued, talking about the challenges of supervising Episode VII, saying “It’s all about the screenplay” while confirming that the screenplay, written by J.J Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, is finished.
You can watch the exchange below:
It should also be noted that Mr. Horn mentioned that Michael Arndt wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay(what does this mean for the re-write rumors we heard?) and that he specifically says that Episode VII will begin 35 years after "where 6 left off". And lastly, when asked about the the lack of announcements concerning Episode VII, he said, in his best Yoda impression; "Patience you must have."
