Confirmed: Episode VII To Begin Filming in May, Will Feature New Trio and 'Very Familiar Faces'

The rumors that Episode VII would begin filming in May were confirmed today on StarWars.com!  The official site confirmed that filming would start in May at Pinewood Studios in London.  The site dropped our first few hints about the story and characters confirming that the story will take place approximately 30 years after Return of the Jedi and will star "a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces."

While the site doesn't go as far as to confirm who any of the characters are, it doesn't seem too far fetched to think that the "familiar faces" might include the likes of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia.   As for who the new leads are, those are still completely unknown.  The latest rumors had five actors still in contention for a lead male character.

While this is still not the announcement we've been waiting for (CAST!), it's exciting to have some official news and a good idea of when the film is actually set.  Plus, with filming about to get underway, it's safe to assume that the cast will be announced VERY soon.

Star Wars Episode VII hits theaters December 18th, 2015.
