Last week Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that standalone Star Wars spin-off films are in the works, and rumors have suggested that those films could be focused on Boba Fett and a Young Han Solo. What hasn't been talked about is the possibility of an Obi-Wan Kenobi-centric film. While being interviewed by MTV about his latest film, Jack and the Giant Slayer, Ewan McGregor was asked about returning to the role of Obi-Wan in a spin-off movie, which he replied "sure". He went on to say it would be a "great idea... The only bit I could get away with doing is after the last one that I'm in, Episode III... There's that period where he's in the Desert." Indeed he would be perfect as Obi-Wan in the nineteen year period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, either in a film of his own or as a cameo in another spin-off.
Even before this Ewan has been asked about his involvement with Star Wars numerous times since the announcement of the Sequel trilogy. He recently posted this on his Twitter:
Haven't heard anything about the new Star Warsmovies. I'll let you know if I'm involved. #donthecloakagainAs far as we know no Obi-Wan films or cameos are on the horizon, but rest assured if Ewan is asked to come back to Star Wars he won't think twice about saying "donning the Cloak again".
