DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: BRAD HARRIS

With 3-D printing now becoming more and more popular, Star Wars fans are quickly approaching a new golden era where artists can manufacture their own custom toy designs and make them look just as good as the large manufacturers.

One of these artists, Industrial Designer Brad Harris, has had some of his work make the rounds on some Star Wars fan sites recently and for good reason.  His designs and execution were just top notch!  Not only did he create some pretty awesome additions to any Star Wars collection, but he even took the time to do the packaging for his creations.  Harris is definitely a designer we'd love to see working for Hasbro in the near future.  The Krayt DragonRathtarRancor, and TIE Defender he produced are some must see designs!  I don't know about you, but I will be bookmarking his webpage to see what else this amazing artist will produce.  I envy his skills!

DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: MirkoFx Studio aka Mirko Martinovic

by: Darth Daddy

When Star Wars fans wrapped up Season One of "Star Wars Rebels", viewers gazed at one ultra cool variation on a Tie Fighter via the artistic stylings of The Ghost crew member, Sabine Wren. Many fans hope that Hasbro releases a version of the vehicle from the "Fire Across the Galaxy" season finale, but as of now we're still waiting for an official announcement that it will happen.  Mirko Martinovic's painted Tie Fighter was probably the best exclusive giveaway at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, because it is one of the only manifestations we have seen of Sabine's Tie Fighter so far. One lucky raffle winner walked away with the prize on the last day of the convention.

When the convention was over, a fan commissioned Mirko to recreate his convention exclusive. The custom took him 3 whole weeks to complete. A true labor of love! Lucky for me, the person backed out the deal at the last minute.

Mirko was getting ready to list his latest masterpiece up on eBay when I made him an offer.  My son Elias turned 12 this month, and when I saw Mirko's Tie Fighter, I decided it would make the perfect birthday present.  Now this piece has a home in the "Customs for the Kid" collection!

Mirko Martinovic's Sabine Wren painted Tie Fighter is the exclusive giveaway that I would want most at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.  This custom Star Wars vehicle is just gorgeous.  We can all hope that Hasbro releases a version of this vehicle from the season finale of Star Wars Rebels "Fire Across the Galaxy" in the near future.  Until any announcements are made, this is the only way to acquire this iconic vehicle.  I spoke with Mirko, and this custom took him 3 whole weeks to complete.  A true labor of love.  The raffle happens at 2pm on Sunday April 19th at the Diorama Workshop at the Hasbro booth at the convention center.  The raffle is for kids 16 and under!
