Oscar Isaac Talks 'The Force Awakens', Comic Con & More

By: Benjamin Hart

Poe Dameron, the hotshot pilot of The Force Awakens, is quickly becoming a fan favorite character even though we're still months away from seeing him in action on the big screen. Oscar Isaac, the actor behind the character, has been making the rounds to discuss Star Wars, as well as his roles in other films such as the recent Ex Machina and his upcoming role as the title character in X-Men: Apocalypse. Earlier this week Oscar sat down with MTV's Josh Horowitz to discuss Episode VII and his recent appearance at The Force Awakens panel at San Diego Comic Con. During their conversation Oscar revealed some surprising things, including that he nor his fellow cast members knew Harrison Ford was going to make an appearance at the panel. They also chatted about how he was cast in The Force Awakens and, upon being asked, wouldn't divulge if there would be any dancing in the film, or even if the line "May the Force be with you" will be uttered. Check out the interview below:

See Oscar Isaac, along with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega & many others on the big screen later this year when Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens opens in theaters on December 18th!

'The Force Awakens' Character Concept Sketches Surface (Updated!)

News about Star Wars Episode VII always seems to always come from interesting sources. Today it appears some new concept drawings of Han Solo, Poe Dameron and Finn from The Force Awakens have appeared in the French version of Vanity Fair magazine. Sebastien from Planète Star Wars was kind enough to send us a photo of the artwork, which is credited to Lucasfilm concept artist Glynn Dillon. Check them out below:

Star Wars 7 News provided us with a translation of the text with the photos, which is obviously meant as a mock-fashion report:

"The Stars of the Catwalk
Star Wars autumn-winter collection 2015. Selection of three designer suits by Michael Kaplan
Harrison Ford – Han Solo in his flying jacket
Oscar Isaac – Poe Dameron in his flight suit
John Boyega – Finn in his pilot’s jacket"

We first saw the drawing of Finn back at Celebration Anaheim, and the costume appears to be identical to the one we see him wearing in the second teaser trailer. Same goes for Poe, and we also got a full body shot of him in the Vanity Fair photos revealed back on Star Wars day. The sketch of Han, on the other hand, is brand new. We have not seen Han below his shoulders yet, but this costume also appears to match what we see in the trailer. The only obvious difference is that Han's jacket is a lighter color brown than what we see in the trailer. Compare the three sketches above to their on screen counterparts below:

Big thanks to Planète Star Wars for sharing this with us! Be sure to check out their web site at Planete-StarWars.com!

Update: Planète Star Wars has given another photo with a closer look at Han and Poe:

Rumor: 'The Force Awakens' Plot Synopsis Leaked

By: Benjamin Hart

Furious Fanboys has pointed us to a short synopsis for Episode VII: The Force Awakens' plot that was posted on 4Chan. While the source is a bit sketchy, it does seem to line up with what we've seen and heard so far, both officially and unofficially. If you're sensitive to spoilers, then you might want to stop reading now. This is your official SPOILER WARNING:

“When a ruthless prince rises to power and threatens galactic peace, a runaway soldier, an uncongenial scavenger, and a hot shot pilot find their fates intertwined as they embark on a journey to find the most powerful warrior in the galaxy.”

We can assume the "ruthless prince" is Kylo Ren. Prince could be a hint that Kylo is indeed the son of Princess Leia and Han Solo. as many have speculated. No doubt Finn is the "runaway soldier" and Rey & Poe Demeron fit the "uncongenial scavenger" and "hot shot pilot" descriptions, respectively.  "The most powerful warrior in the Galaxy" would have to be Luke Skywalker. We've heard many rumors about Luke being in hiding at the beginning of Episode VII, and the plot revolving around the main characters searching for him.

This synopsis sounds vague enough to be real, revealing the overall story without giving too much away. Still, we'll file this one as a rumor until Lucasfilm confirms it.

New Photo Of Oscar Isaac In Costume On The Set Of 'The Force Awakens'

By: Benjamin Hart

Oscar Isaac is one of our favorites here at the SWU, so we always look forward to hearing from him, and of course, seeing him! A new photo of the man himself dressed as his The Force Awakens character Poe Dameron, has surfaced online. An instagram user posted the photo(above) which shows Isaac wearing an orange jumpsuit, which appears part of his X-Wing flight suit, which we've seen numerous times in trailers & photos(below). Our friends at Making Star Wars speculate that this is an alternate "casual" costume for Poe.

Nevertheless, it's awesome to get looks behind the scenes like this! We look forward to seeing Poe Dameron in action when Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18th!

Oscar Isaac Reveals Advice Harrison Ford Gave Him On 'The Force Awakens' Set

Oscar Isaac, of course, will be playing Poe Dameron in The Force Awakens, whom we first glimpsed in the now infamous teaser trailer flying an X-Wing. Isacc recently appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers and the two had an interesting discussion about Star Wars. Meyers first inquired about Isaac's Star Wars fandom, which led to a conversation about how Oscar once dressed as a Gonk Droid at a family party. And when the talk transitioned to Episode VII, Isaac had a lot to say, confirming that he is indeed a pilot in the film but adds that he does do "other things". He then continued to tell a hilarious story about getting some piloting advice from one of the best pilots in the Galaxy, Harrison Ford. You can watch the full conversation below:
