Star Wars returns to the small screen this weekend with the season three premiere of Star Wars Rebels! To further build excitement Lucasfilm has released a series of teases from the upcoming slate of episodes. On the newest edition of The Star Wars Show on the official Star Wars YouTube channel, hosts Andi Gutierrez and Peter Townley showed off a brand new clip from the premiere.
If you're a Star Wars Battlefront player, now is the time to get excited! The new Death Star DLC is going to be hitting the game very soon and we're about to get our first full look at what the new expansion has in store. We previously learned that this DLC will include space combat, both in and around the iconic Death Star trench, as well as in open space surrounding the space station. In addition, Chewbacca and Bossk will be added as playable hero characters.
'The Star Wars Show' this week revealed a number of juicy pieces of news, including an exclusive first look at a new ship which we shall see in Rogue One. Andi Gutierrez and Peter Townley also announced a new Lucasfilm spin off series, named 'The Star Wars After Show', which will soon premiere on the Verizon YouTube channel.
The new show will be presented by regular hosts Andi and Peter, who will sit down with employees from Lucasfilm and discuss the most important Star Wars news stories of the week. Based on the short clips seen in the latest installment of the 'Star Wars Show', this series looks like it will be a roundtable discussion set in 'The Star Wars Show' studios.
I am intrigued by the idea of this show. 'The Star Wars Show' has only aired for three months and I think it has struggled to create a clear identity. Is the show just a 'news' based show? Are the guests who are interviewed supposed to be affiliated with Star Wars or merely pop culture in general? The exclusives are certainly a neat touch and I believe that this is what 'The Star Wars Show' should be all about. Hopefully the new 'After Show' will operate as a forum in which exclusive news content can be regularly disclosed by Lucasfilm, seeing as the guests will be members of the Lucasfilm team. On average, the viewership numbers of 'The Star Wars Show' show range from 45,000-100,000 per episode. For a new show, which has just 15 episodes to its name, that is a decent turn around and perhaps this is why Lucasfilm feel justified in setting up a new show which can attract more viewers and extend the presence of Lucasfilm and Disney's Star Wars on YouTube.
The 'Star Wars After Show 'will debut on August 4th (tomorrow) on the Verizon YouTube channel, with new episodes set to air every Thursday.
What are your hopes and expectations for the 'After Show'? Let us know in the comments below.
Today on the latest episode of The Star Wars Show, hosts Andi Gutierrez and Peter Townley revealed a brand new still from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, along with a brand new ship from the film. We previously heard about about this ship from various sources, but now Lucasfilm has pulled back the curtain on the U-Wing!
The still(above) reveals an amazing view of Yavin IV's landscape that includes the massive and iconic Massassi Temples, along with a collection X-Wings in the foreground and a U-Wing floating above them. The Lucasfilm Story Group's Matt Martin was on hand to reveal the news and give details about the U-Wing. Martin explains that the ship's technical name is "Incom UT-60D" and it is a troop transport and gunship. The U-Wing's forward mandibles also fold out and back to accommodate different situations. He further elaborates on it's purpose:
"It's there to bring in rebel troops to heavy fire zones and get our as quickly as possible... and provide air support."
Matt Martin also mentions that the U-Wing was secretly revealed back at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim last year in the first piece of concept from Rogue One(below). You may also recall that on a previous episode of The Star Wars Show, Pablo Hidalgo revealed that the new alien character, Bistan, is a door gunner on board a U-Wing Fighter in the film. It's good to finally see the U-Wing in full!
It sounds like this ship serves a similar purpose to the LAAT gunships that the Republic utilized during the Clone Wars. Being that we've never before had the opportunity to see how the Rebel Alliance deploys its troops, it will be awesome to finally see this ship in the film, and hopefully future stories involving the Rebellion.
