Rumor: Production Names For Han Solo Film & Others Revealed

By: Benjamin Hart

While we still don't know the official title for the upcoming Han Solo Anthology(or "Hanthology", as we like to call it), or any film beyond Rogue One, but we may yet have an idea what names are being applied to them behind the scenes. In order to keep the production of recent Star Wars films secret, less conspicuous production names have been applied to the movies. The Force Awakens was codenamed "Foodles" during it's production, and we recently learned that Star Wars: Episode VIII has been using the name "Space Bear".

Now our friends at Jedi News have uncovered two new production names for future Star Wars films, one of which in particular is being applied to the Hanthology film that's coming in 2018. The new production names are as follows:

  • Carbonado Industries (UK) Ltd
  • PLT Productions Ltd.

Although this is just a rumor for the moment, Jedi News has proved themselves before by being the first to reveal other production names like Foodles. The Carbonado name is an obvious reference to Han Solo being frozen in Carbonite, thus they claim it is the production name that will be used for the Hanthology film, which stars Alden Ehrenreich and is directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord. The second name, PLT Porductions, is a bit more ambiguous. Jedi News admits that while it could be applied to Star Wars: Episode IX, directed by Colin Trevorrow, it could be for a number of other films, including a non-Star Wars production, such as the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones film. We shall see how this pans out.

In the meantime, we look forward to an official confirmation(or denial) from Lucasfilm regarding this information.

By: Benjamin Hart

Last year at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim Lucasfilm introduced a brand new venue to the convention: the Podcast stage. Over the course of the event it featured an assortment of different Podcast(ours included) broadcasting live on stage during set time intervals. Now, with Star Wars Celebration Europe coming up in July, it appears Lucasfilm is bringing it back! Earlier today Mark Newbold from Jedi News revealed the Podcast lineup for the duration of Celebration on StarWars.com. Mark Newbold had this to say about this year's Podcast stage:

"At the request of the wonderful Mary Franklin at ReedPOP and our fellow groups in One Force, I had the great pleasure of organizing the schedule and choosing the podcasts for the show. My intention from the beginning was to bring as many of the best podcasts to Celebration. Given that we were sharing the stage with the UKG and Rebel Legion, who have their own selection of presentations running through the weekend, I was keen to fit in as many podcasts as possible into a limited number of slots (15 different shows from numerous networks sharing eight 45-minute slots) and to provide some unique content for the event. As you’ll see, we have an eclectic array of content covering collecting, interviews, literature, comedy and shows with a UK, US and Australian focus."

Report: 'The Force Awakens' Blu-Ray To Include Three Discs

By: Benjamin Hart

Now that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is beginning to make its way out of theaters we can look ahead to home video release. Today our friends at Jedi News stumbled upon some interesting info on the listing for the film on Blu-Ray.com. According to the site, it will be a three disc set, including 2 Blu-rays and a DVD, along with Google Play and iTunes digital copies. They speculate that this could mean that we'll be getting at least one disc fully devoted to bonus features. You can see a screenshot of the listing below:

Considering all the deleted scenes we've heard about thus far, it would be awesome to see them all featured on a bonus disc along with plenty of other behind the scenes content. The Force Awakens is reportedly hitting home video on April 5th. Of course, we have to take all this info with a grain of salt until we get an official announcement from Lucasfilm.

Rumor: Report From A 'The Force Awakens' Scoring Session With John Williams

By: Benjamin Hart

On top of all the amazing imagery we are going to see in The Force Awakens, it's what we're going to hear that will be really special. Legendary composer John Williams is currently scoring the music for the next Star Wars film with the superb freelance orchestra in Los Angeles, California. Our friends at Jedi News alerted us to an intriguing report from the John Williams Fan Network, in which they claim to have a quote from an anonymous source who was involved in a recording session in June:

“I did go to one of the sessions in June and it was beyond anything I have experienced musically in my life. It was a true “full circle” moment. This man has done more to introduce people to music than anyone on the planet. And here was a room full of us, all with our own Star Wars music story, being part of this historic recording session. I still can’t believe how lucky I was to be there for that one session.”

It certainly sounds incredible. Some in the past have suggested that the music of Star Wars is a character all it's own, and that's very much due to Williams brilliance in developing the many themes heard in the first six films. All of us fans can't wait to hear that character again when Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens hits the big screen on December 18th!

Actor Richard Bonehill Dies At 67

By: Benjamin Hart

Unfortunately we some have sad news for you today. Actor Richard Bonehill, who portrayed a plethora of characters in The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi, has passed away. Although he went uncredited in both films, Bonehill played an assortment of Imperials, Rebels and aliens, most notably Rebel officer Palo Torshan in Empire and Ree-Yees, Mosep Binneed and Lando's co-pilot Nien Nunb in Jedi.

The Hollywood Reporter provided quotes from Bonefill from an interview back in 2006 where he was asked which of the characters that he played were his favorite:

"This is an easy one to answer. At the time, my favorite part was that of a Rebel soldier, purely because it was the most comfortable costume to wear. The masked aliens such as Ree-Yees were the most uncomfortable.... Over the years I have become very attached and proud to have been a snowtrooper and stormtrooper. The stormtrooper really has become an iconic symbol of the Empire, so I would pick him as my favorite character."

Apart from Star Wars, Richard Bonehill was an expert swordsman and horseman and filled several roles, such as stunt man, sword master and coach, on many films including Flash Gordon(1980), Top Secret!(1984) and Highlander(1986). He also served as as head coach of England's Truro Fencing Club, and later president until his passing. The club released the following statement on Twitter:

All of us at the Star Wars Underworld express our most sincere condolences to Mr. Bonehill's family and friends. Be sure to visit Richard's official web site to see behind the scenes photos and learn more about his contributions to the Star Wars saga & more.

'The Force Awakens' Toys Will Not Be Distributed At Hasbro Brand Preview Day - Toy Fair NY 2015

By Ciaran Duggan

Breaking news for Hasbro toy fans! The annual Hasbro Entertainment Brand Preview Event will not be issuing any merchandise for the highly anticipated film hitting cinemas this December, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Jedi News has publicized this scoop. Jedi News has attached the email which they had received from the Hasbro PR team, earlier this morning. Take a look:

Dear Star Wars fans,

With Toy Fair approaching and Hasbro's annual Entertainment Brand Preview Day scheduled for Saturday, February 14th, we wanted to reach out and clarify what Hasbro's Star Wars presence will entail at this year's show.

As usual, Hasbro will be exhibiting a variety of fun and exciting Star Wars products from across its portfolio of brands, including Star Wars action figures, Star Wars Galactic Heroes and more. There will be no toys based on Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Star Wars Episode VII) shown at Toy Fair this year.

Obviously, we know that there's a huge amount of anticipation for Star Wars toys this year, and we wanted to be forthcoming about this as we know it might make a difference for some of you in regards to travel plans. While we're happy to host all of you at Entertainment Brand Preview Day and look forward to having you check out the latest and greatest toys from Star Wars and Hasbro's other exciting brands, we want you to have as much information as possible to be able to plan your travel and coverage.

We're extremely excited for the year ahead—which will undoubtedly be one of the most exciting years ever for fans of Star Wars and Hasbro's Star Wars toys—and we look forward to working with each of you extensively over the coming year.

It is regrettable that Hasbro is not announcing more positive news concerning the production and release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys, but I am sure that there are plans to launch these products in the not too distant future. Notwithstanding this, it is still important to note that there will still be an enriched range of Star Wars stock on display and available for purchase at New York Toy Fair, which Star Wars fans would be heedless to miss out on.

The New York Toy Fair will take commence on Saturday 14th February this calendar year!

Report: 'The Force Awakens' Trailer Shown At UK 501st Dinner

By Chris Seekell

UPDATE: Take this with a grain of salt. The authenticity of these reports have since come into question, despite coming from a reputable source.

The womp rat is officially out the bag! According to tweets from several attendees at tonight's UK Garrison dinner, members of the 501st legion were given a first look at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer that is rumored to be released publicly next weekend.

The following are tweets from two members of the Jedi News team.

Following descriptions of the trailer leaking earlier this week from multiple sources, today, a GIF of the Millennium Falcon on the attack flying through space surfaced on Reddit. We have yet to hear confirmation from any reliable sources concerning the authenticity of the GIF, however the Falcon has been confirmed to be in the trailer by James Burns on Twitter.

UPDATE: Brian Cameron has now deleted one of the photos he posted to Twitter, and is claiming no trailer was actually shown. Regardless of whether or not this was an elaborate ruse, rumblings about the trailer's contents and release date continue to pile up, and we believe the release is imminent.

Rumor: Leading Character In Episode VII Will Be Mon Calamari

By: Benjamin Hart

It's a trap!... Okay, sorry. Just had to get that out of the way.

Our friends at Jedi News are reporting that a Mon Calamari character will have a prominent role in Star Wars Episode VII. The guys at Making Star Wars agreed with them, stating that they've also heard that an Admiral Ackbar suit was being built for Episode VII. They also suggest that Skellig Michael could be an island on Mon Cala(Or Dac, for you Legends fans) in the film. It's unclear whether Ackbar's role will be expanded from his appearance in Return Of The Jedi, or it will be a completely new character. Nevertheless, more classic Aliens will be awesome to see!

As always, take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Lucasfilm: Episode VII release will NOT be delayed by Ford injury

By Chris Seekell

Following a rumor picked up on earlier today by Jedi News stating that a meeting to discuss delaying the production of Star Wars Episode VII has taken place at Pinewood, TheForce.net has reached out to a spokesperson from Lucasfilm to comment on a possible delay. They were told the following information.

Lucasfilm would not comment on the extent of the production delays, but a company spokesperson told TFN, "There is no change in the release date."

So it looks like while the film production may or may not be delayed by Harrison Ford's injury on the set of the film, Lucasfilm is still expecting Episode VII to be released December 18th, 2015 as scheduled.
