Rumor: Thandie Newton In Negotiations For Role In The Han Solo Film

By: Benjamin Hart

Variety is back again with more casting news for the young Han Solo standalone film! After reporting earlier this week that Pheobe Waller-Bridge was in talks to star in the film, they have now revealed a brand new potential cast member.

Citing "inside sources", Variety reports that actress Thandie Newton is currently in negotiations for an unknown role in the Han Solo film. Newton is known for her roles in such films as 2012 (2009) and The Pursuit of Happyness (2006). More recently she gained much notoriety as Maeve Millay in the HBO series Westworld, a role that earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

If her casting does pan out, she will join Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson in the film, which is due for release next year.

As always, this is just a rumor until officially confirmed by Lucasfilm.

  1. Sanna Starros backstory, please. In the new comics, her (fake) marriage to Solo was part of a scam they were running, but then Solo took off with her cut of the money. Kennedy said this film was going to be a heist movie, so the Starros backstory included in this film is plausible.
