Rumor: New 'The Force Awakens' Trailer Coming October 16th

By: Dominic Jones

With Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens now just 80 days away, the one question all fans are asking is when will we see the third (and final?) trailer for the new film?  Our friends over at Furious Fanboys may have the answer.  They're reporting that some movie theaters are being told to reserve spots for new items, such as posters, starting October 16th.  According to Furious Fanboys,

"When a studio releases a teaser trailer, like the one that came out in April, they give the trailer to theaters along with a poster to display. That’s when the teaser one-sheet hit theaters. While some don’t consider it to be a real poster, the logo-only one-sheet was the first teaser poster for The Force Awakens.

If these theaters are receiving promotional items such as posters, or even bigger things like a standee, around the 16th of October that means they also likely will have a trailer to show as well."

They also speculate that the trailer could very well be released online on the 15th of October, which is a Thursday (which is when Lucasfilm typically makes their big reveals) and then in theaters on the 16th itself.

The only indication Lucasfilm has given about when a new trailer might hit is, as they repeated at conventions throughout the summer, that it would hit in "the fall."  Rumors are also swirling that tickets for the film will go on sale on October 19th and that a new trailer would be released to coincide with that.  A trailer being released on October 15th/16th seems to fit both the official and rumored criteria.

As always this is just a rumor until confirmed or denied by Lucasfilm or Disney.

  1. I think if they're smart, they could release the trailer during the Season 2 premiere of Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD on Wednesday, October 14th at 9:30PM.

    1. Where no one would see it ever. If they're smart, they just upload it to YouTube an do nothing, and it will be seen by tens of millions.

  2. I think it will come out before then. the 16th is most likely when the trailer and posters come to THEATERS, but it would be a waste to wait that long when both New York Comic-Con and the season premiere of rebels are both before that on the 9th and 14th respectively and are significantly better days to release it and build hype.

  3. Hopefully a firm date for the trailer will keep all those whiny self-entitled fanboys on theforce.net forums from killing themselves before December
