It was only a matter of time before this happened. An image of the prototypes for five upcoming Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens 6 inch action figures was leaked online today in a Chinese Star Wars forum. Check out the image below and see what, let's be honest, we'll all be spending our money on in the not to distant future,
It appears to me that the characters we are seeing are (from left to right) Gwendoline Chritsie's still unnamed character (based on how tall the figure is, combined with rumors about her playing some sort of chrome stormtrooper commander with that kind of helmet) or a Kylo Ren figure, John Boyega's Finn (they have perfected that head sculpt), Daisy Ridley's Rey (I'm sure it will be clearer when they get a hair mold on to her), BB-8 (of course), and the mighty Chewbacca (sans robot arm, thank the maker!)
As for when we will see these figures officially, my guess would be in February at New York Toy Fair (though based on past toy fairs, nobody would be surprised if more images leaked out just before the show). Action figures (and Lego sets) have, in recent years, often become the place where fans first find out about new characters and their names (even last year, several Rebels names got leaked because they were in Lego sets that were being debuted).

The figure on the left appears to by Kylo Ren, as the costuming is consistent with the leaked image you posted earlier this morning as well as what we see in the trailer.
ReplyDeletePeople who say "sans" instead of "without"...
ReplyDeleteI think these are for the Star Wars black series because the Chewbacca figure looks a lot like the black series one, so maybe they are reselling him with the other episode 7 characters in that wave.
ReplyDeleteThey changed his head sculpt and has a different bandolier strap from the current BS Chewbacca.
DeletePeople who don't like multiple words meaning the same thing and the choice to use the shorter of two rather than stooping to abbreviating; disapproving in such a way that it comes across as pretentious, while attempting to call someone out for pretentiousness...
