Details and rumors about the highly anticipated trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens have been coming in fast this week. And today we might just have our first look at the trailer itself. Our friends at Making Star Wars were alerted to a cool GIF that was posted to Reddit featuring an infamous Starship. The roughly two second long clip is believed to be from The Force Awakens teaser. You can see it below, along with some analysis and SPOILERS:

Now there are a few things here that both enhance an degrade the authenticity of this footage: The good? Firstly, it matches a trailer description we heard a few days ago that mentioned that the last scene in the teaser would show the Falcon flying directly at the camera, guns-a-blazing. Secondly, the Falcon's sensor dish is rectangular in this footage, which matches the dish seen in set photos(below).
And the bad? Well, the quality simply isn't up to par. The Falcon itself does not look very realistic, and the blue lens flare seems unneeded and something a fan would add in as a poke at Director J.J. Abrams' alleged obsession with lens flare. Either this is a still unfinished piece of the trailer, or it's a very well done fan made animation. Nevertheless, it's pretty darn cool.
And all this leaves us eager to see the full trailer in all it's glory, which many are speculating could happen very soon. The Force Awakens is set to hit theaters on December 18th, 2015. In the meantime, let us know if you think this is real of not in the comments below, or in Club SWU.
UPDATE: A source close to the production has now told us that this footage is not authentic

Fake, i dont think even unfinished shot would look this bad.
ReplyDeleteIf you look closely, you can see that the falcons' antenna dish is square, not circular.
ReplyDeleteToo stiff, too clumsy. Any talented teenager with a good processor could have done that. Sorry, if this is for real, a fear for it.
ReplyDeleteWAY TOO STIFF the flying path of the falcon is.
ReplyDeleteI remember from the Return of the Jedi Lamdo cliped the top of the falcon and tore the disk radar off in the Death Star hole. Could be why thier is a rectangle radar.
ReplyDeleteThe falcon's dish got wiped out in the last death star run.
ReplyDeleteWho said the replacement HAS to be round. Maybe they got what they had on hand?
Not everyone carries the spares for a clapped out old YT-1300 that's been heavily modified anyway.
looks real to me
ReplyDeleteThis is from the original Knights of the Old Republic video game with slight alteration. This is as fake as Kim Kardashian's first wedding.
ReplyDeleteLook at the quads they don't fire like that,

There is another Falcon in the new Movies!!
ReplyDelete'Infamous' starship? Do you know what infamous means?
ReplyDeleteI would think the flying hamburger's plot-convenient mechanical unreliability qualifies it as infamous.
ReplyDeleteThis is literally the slot of slave 1 from episode two with the falcon pasted in.
