The Australian website Access Reel is reporting that on May 3rd and 4th of this year, Australian cinemas will present Star Wars trilogy marathons (one trilogy per day). On May 3rd it's the prequel trilogy, and on May 4th it's the original trilogy. The films will be presented in digital 2D.
No word on what cinemas in Australia will be showing the films or if the rest of the world will be getting marathons as well.
As always this is just a rumor until confirmed (or denied) by Lucasfilm or Disney (or in this case, Australian cinema chains!)
I can confirm this. Episodes 1-3 to screen on the Saturday, followed by the Original Trilogy on the Sunday.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any proof to support your claim? Because this would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteI can also confirm that this is actually happening. I work at a cinema in the Sydney region, and was very excited about even the thought of such a marathon.
ReplyDeleteMy manager and I were able to check what is called a 'run sheet' of the movies that are to be released over the year, what days they are to be released on etc.
Sure enough, on the weekend of May 3rd/4th, there it was in big, beautiful, bold lettering: Star Wars Marathon. Needless to say I may have jumped for joy. And embarrassed myself quite a bit. But I don't care!
Anyway, no times as of yet, but it's definitely happening!!!
