Report: The Sith Homeworld is now 'Moriband'

Concept art of the Sith Temple, revealed at Celebration Europe, from the upcoming The Clone Wars Bonus Content
By: Dominic Jones

When the (rumored) plot descriptions for the final Clone Wars episodes were leaked yesterday, many fans immediately noticed the description for the episode Sacrifice referred to the Sith homeworld of "Moriband".  This jumped out to many fans who are familiar with the Expanded Universe, as the EU had established the Sith homeworld as being called "Korriban".  The immediate speculation was that there was simply a typo or something was lost in the translation from German to English.

Not so.  Jedi News is reporting that one of their readers reached out to SuperRTL, the German channel airing the final episodes of The Clone Wars beginning February 15th, who confirmed that it is suppose to be Moriband.  According to SuperRTL,

"We have kept to the text presets given to us by Disney / Lucasfilm. To be on the safe side, we just took a second look at the original English text, and there it definitely says 'Moriband'."

So there you have it.  The Sith home world is now Moriband.  This is not the first time The Clone Wars has changed expanded universe canon.  There have been several instances throughout the first five seasons of the show where things were changed.  For fans looking to retcon this, however, Club Jade does point out that the expanded universe has had multiple Sith home worlds (eg, Ziost and Korriban are both referred to as the homeworld of the Sith) so this could just be another planet added to the list.

Personally, I have never minded The Clone Wars changing continuity, and this doesn't bother me in the slightest.  I'm just excited that we're going to the Sith homeworld!  Also, with a new films and strong signs pointing to a new continuity, this may very well just be the tip of the ice berg.

  1. Not sold on the name change but not surprised either. Good choice.

  2. It's not real creative, when you look at the name M O r I b A nd against K O rr I b A n. O, I, A in both names in the same order. It seems to me that they will only show us that THEY do the business and so they kick the EU to hell, but in a kind of type that we could see the small changes (the sounding of the name is nearly the same) only for one reason: BECAUSE THEY CAN DO IT !!!!!! WTF !!

  3. Uh, silly question: What about Dromund Kaas? There are a lot of lore already on the Old Republic Era.

  4. It's kind of frustrating that they will needlessly change these kind of things. Maybe they need a different temple than what we have seen on Korriban in Kotor etc. What is really annoying are plot lines and sub plots that never get resolved. Not least of all The Clone Wars, but also the Republic Commando series for example. Apart from the novel's various and separate character stories that Karen Traviss created, we have Sev who goes MIA in the game.. sure that happens in war, but come on... we need closure, simply because it's entertainment. Why leave fans hanging? Just because Lucasfilm wanted to exercise it's authoritar and not be pandering to the beck and call of some writers fortunate enough to have their work published under licence, we as fans shouldn't be just content with unfinished stories?

  7. Starwars.com reports: "At the start of story development, the Sith world was called Korriban, but George Lucas preferred to change its name to Moraband. A world so ancient could have been known by different names in different eras."

  8. Why the planet itself even didn't look like Korriban. Plus I don't think that Lord Bane would've have a tomb on Korriban. I started to hate the clone wars series... And I fear that Disney will continue to do this. I think star wars and the EU will be doomed because of disney...

  9. life fan. Star Wars is dead. No organization. No reason why Revan and Luke can't be in a same "Universe". They can make both fans happy. But they keep doing this crap, and they wonder why Star Trek fans laugh.

There is actually no reason for this at all. Like who cares if you like Revan or Luke better. They are different era's. People can choose, and it's better for Star Wars as a whole to "bring up the past" a little in the Clone Wars.

Why would you wanna upset KOTOR fans that pay money with the Star Wars name on it, only to tell them "What you like and pay for is all BS.....but keep on playing.

  10. I am unhappy the new sith villian looks like a bastard child of revan and sidious, and i hate the cross bladed light saber. I am a john carter fan, I did not like how Disney fowled that up even after they had that behind the scenes crap shot saying how this was being done by people who have been long time fans etc etc, if they were then how come john carter was done with the two major cities waring bearing the wrong colors? why were the thern bald and not wearing blonde wigs? why were the only races the green and red with no mention of white (thern), black, and yellow races of mars? i only mention all this to make this point. Star Wars is going to be made by the same company who put the such fine commitment to detail as in John Carter. Why couldn't Disney have just bought Farscape, or Battlestar Galactica? Disney couldn't have possibly messed up either series worse than SciFy.
